Australia's Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has witnessed world cricket history. The first international test match was held here in 1877, where Australia and England faced each other. The two teams met again at the same venue in 1977 in the historic centenary, and Australia won by 45 runs, just like the first match.
When the 150th anniversary of the first Test match will be completed in 2027, the Test match between England and Australia will again be seen at the MCG. Cricket Australia has recently officially announced the organization of this special match.
Also, Australian Cricket released the list of major Test venues for the season till 2030-31 season. Traditionally the MCG hosts the Boxing Day Test, and the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) hosts the New Year's Test. Despite demands from other Australian states, the venues for these two Tests remain unchanged.
Also, it has been decided to host the Christmas Eve Test match at Adelaide Oval for the next three seasons. However, due to ongoing renovations at the Gabba, it will not be possible to host Test matches before the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane. So the first Test match for the next three seasons will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
This special Test match of 2027 will be a memorable moment not only for Australia and England, but for the entire cricket world.
